Food at Five

Food at Five provides a hot nutritious meal 3 evenings a week, every week at 5pm. These meals are open to anyone and we encourage anyone who is entitled to benefits or on a low income to come join us. Just turn up!

Food at Five is about more than providing community members with a hot meal. Its is about creating a space where people can gather, share stories, food and make connections.

We always provide vegetarian options and can cater for other dietary requirements too. You can find us at 5pm on:

  • Mondays at The Mount Community Hut
  • Wednesdays at The Frome Cricket Club
  • Thursdays at Trinity Church Hall

“It was lovely to have a homemade meal cooked for me for a change”

“We all enjoyed having a nice relaxed meal and time to talk, as life is busy with 4 children”

“Being together as a family, meeting new people and finding out about other things that are available in the community”

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic our Food at Five project is unable to provide indoor sit down hot meals. Instead, we are operating as a takeaway service only. We have continued to provide 3 hot meals a week throughout the lockdowns and will continue to provide this takeaway service at our regular locations.

Holiday Hunger

This project works in partnership with Purple Elephant’s free holiday activities. We provide free lunches to referred families 3 days a week during all school holidays. These activities usually last around 2 hours and parents or carers remain with their children and join in the fun. Each activity and day is different and alongside purple Elephant we offer a variety of activities from arts and crafts to sports and cookery.

We work to ensure these are healthy and nutritious and support children’s growth. The lunches also cater for all dietary requirements and are prepared by local catering businesses here in Frome.
