Other projects

Alongside our main programmes here at Fair Frome we run a number of additional projects. These projects have all been created in response to us listening to current community needs and remaining responsive. Our other projects are all collaborative and allow us to work in partnership with multiple charities, organisations and services in Frome to provide assistance where needed. You can find out more information about our main additional projects below, we also work collaboratively with local groups and organisations throughout the year to provide support to many projects when needed.

Breakfast Club

Our Breakfast Club is available to school pupils every Monday during term-time at Frome Cricket Club. The ‘Grab and Go’ breakfast bags are available for all students to collect on their way to school. Dairy-free and Gluten-free requirements are catered for. Two separate collection points are available for Selwood School and Frome College students.

Baby Basics Bank

Our Baby Basics Bank provides essential items such as nappies, formula and baby food to families in Frome for referred clients. Other items such as prams, cots, push chairs, baths, Moses baskets and feeding items are also available. Referrals are available from local support agencies including:

Frome Health Visitors – 0300 323 0118

Mendip Citizens Advice – 0808 2787 842

Frome Health Connections – 01373 468368

Financial Assistance

Our financial assistance programme works to support community members with extra referrals that do not fit in the requirements of the Furniture Bank or Food Bank. The scheme aims to support individuals and families who are financially struggling to access essential items and support. Over the last couple of years we have assisted with carpet referrals and fittings alongside our partners at The Frome Rotary Club, Lions Club of Frome and Kevin Corcoran Carpets. We also assist with technology referrals and were able to distribute refurbished laptops to school children and individuals working from home. We also help with school uniform referrals, purchase baby items, household equipment and many other items.

To access this scheme all individuals must have a referral. This referral scheme is run with the help of local support agencies, local schools and Social Services.

Holiday Hunger

This project works in partnership with Purple Elephant’s free holiday activities. We provide free lunches to referred families 3 days a week during all school holidays. These activities usually last around 2 hours and parents or carers remain with their children and join in the fun. Each activity and day is different and alongside purple Elephant we offer a variety of activities from arts and crafts to sports and cookery.

We work to ensure these are healthy and nutritious and support children’s growth. The lunches also cater for all dietary requirements and are prepared by local catering businesses here in Frome.

Christmas Appeals

We work with several organisations to help deliver additional programmes over the festive period. This includes our Children’s Christmas Present scheme that we run alongside our partners Purple Elephant to help provide Christmas presents to referred children. These referrals are made by local support agencies, social services and local schools.

We also help coordinate The Frome Big Christmas Get-Together where we provide Christmas hampers, a Christmas meal and presents to over 160 people in Frome on Christmas Day. The event has been running in Frome since 2011 and provides food and company to isolated, and vulnerable individuals and families in need.
