Our wonderful volunteers and regular partner, Asda in Frome are always hard at work to gather donations year round. If you can see yourself among these smiling faces, please get in touch to be a part of the team.
Our community of volunteers make us at Fair Frome who we are and their work helps us keep our doors open throughout the year. Volunteering with us at Fair Frome is also about helping create new opportunities for our volunteers and we ensure that all our volunteers have:
The opportunity to gain new skills and experiences.
The chance to work with other people to widen social circles, make new friends and meet people from a range of backgrounds.
Training, support and supervision.
The opportunity to be part of a committed team putting something back into your community.
A robust system under which to work which will provide you with a safe and rewarding working environment.
Opportunities for work experience placements and volunteer positions for young people aged 13 and up.
If you wish to volunteer with us please contact us.
Stepping Stones is a pre-employment course which helps young people with learning disabilities and Autism that had previously been economically and socially inactive for a while. The program helps build confidence, looks at people’s skills and abilities and explores how these skills can be applied to work.
During February/March 2025, Fair Frome partnered with Stepping Stones to give these new job seekers an opportunity to learn new skills. Its aim was to provide them with employability skills and confidence and to take part in some community work experience.
Fair Frome Food Bank is proud to have welcomed young people along for 12 hours of work experience each. Not only do they learn valuable employment skills such as following procedures and carrying out tasks according to instructions they also learn about the importance of team work and communication.
Job seekers meet other volunteers who give up their time to help and engage in some interesting conversations.
Our volunteers boast pride in themselves and that they find it very rewarding to learn about the value of giving back to the community and gain a sense of purpose. They learn about their local community and the hard work that goes on to help and support people who need a helping hand in times of difficulty.
Testimony from our friends at THALES UK:
The volunteering day was a great opportunity for us to give back to the community and simultaneously develop as a team. These opportunities to get together as a development team come rarely, as we all work across different sites in the UK, so to do this while helping out the local community was great … This contribution made a real difference not only raising money and extra food for the food bank, however also having a lot of extra hands in the food bank saving valuable time. It was so powerful for us, getting an insight into the amazing work Fair Frome does and the struggles so many people go through on a daily basis. We were so grateful to Fair Frome for inviting us down to help out and allowing us to play a small part in achieving their mission.
Please get in touch if your organization would like to work with us.
