Food at Five – Job Description

Food at Five is a fast-paced project where you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Regular commitment on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday depending on where there are vacancies.
  • Availability from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on said days
  • Complete a level 2 Food Hygiene and Manual Handling training (support can be provided to get a training)
  • DBS check, (support can be provided to get your DBS check)

Venues open at 4:30pm to the public. There are various jobs that are required throughout the session, which include:

  • Helping set tables up with chairs
  • Putting out cutlery, condiments and squash
  • Making hot drinks for clients as they come in
  • Setting up the welcome table
  • Welcoming people into the venue
  • Taking donations
  • Helping in the kitchen serving food provided by our caterers
  • General washing up
  • Signposting to other services (if you’re unsure just ask Rebecca or Lenka)
  • Passing on feedback and suggestions to Rebecca and Lenka
  • After everyone has eaten their meal and those requiring takeaways have been served and have left, ensure the venue tables and chairs are packed away
  • Ensure the venue is clean and resources are packed away.

Food at Five is lucky to have a diverse range of clients some with additional needs, English as an Additional Language and unique dietary requirements. As a Food at Five volunteer you should be ready to assist with all of the varying needs of our members.

It’s important that our members feel valued and heard, s0 listening, being present and positive are a large part of this role.
